How Germany Reviewed the Copen — Charm on a Budget By De Garassie the 4th
After seeing that 1.3L silver Copen in Verona, Italy, I started wondering—
What did Europe think of this little kei-inspired roadster?
Turns out, Germany loved it.
In a 2023 article, Auto Motor und Sport, one of the country’s top automotive magazines, featured the Daihatsu Copen as a “budget roadster full of charm.”
They praised its rarity, open-top design, and Japanese precision.
Even called it “a true alternative for drivers who want something fun and different.”
The 1.3L European-spec Copen may have been modest on paper—
but on the streets of Germany, it turned heads.
And today, even used models are gaining attention.
A classic JDM oddball?
Maybe.
But one with personality, soul, and growing respect.
