Copen — Upgraded to BBS Wheels!

I just scored a set of BBS wheels with tires for my Copen on Yahoo Auctions!

The tires are the same brand I’ve been using,
but the wheels — that’s where things get exciting.

BBS — the brand every car enthusiast dreams of.

Granted,
these are cast BBS wheels,
not the forged type.

They’re the more affordable version (lol).
But still — BBS is BBS.
The brand power alone is huge! (爆)

These BBS wheels originally came standard
on the special edition Copen called the "Ultimate Edition."
Naturally, the fitment is perfect — no surprises there.

Weight savings:
Compared to the stock wheels,
each BBS wheel is 1.8 kg lighter.

Across all four wheels,
that’s a total of 7.2 kg shaved off.

There’s a saying:

"Reducing 1 kg of unsprung weight is equivalent to 15 kg of sprung weight."

By that logic,
it’s like dropping nearly 100 kg overall!

Real-world effects?

Maybe not a full 100 kg,
but you can definitely feel the difference.

At stoplights,
the initial roll-off is noticeably lighter.

The Copen — being a turbocharged kei car with an automatic transmission —
isn’t exactly a rocket off the line.
But now, it launches much more smoothly and eagerly.

Ride quality has also improved.

The tires seem to follow the road surface better,
and bumps feel softer and more rounded.

Before: bumps felt like a harsh "GON!"
Now: it’s more of a softened "DON."

It’s a subtle but very welcome change.

And best of all — the looks!

BBS wheels just look awesome.
No matter what.

Now, my Copen is seriously shaping up:

  • RECARO seats
  • MOMO steering wheel
  • Bridgestone Potenza tires
  • BBS wheels

It’s becoming a real car enthusiast’s kei car. (lol)

And I love it.
